About the Event

ROOTS invites refugee youth and volunteers to join us for a field trip to the UC San Diego campus in La Jolla on Wednesday, June 4, 2025.

Participants will visit bioengineering laboratories and get a firsthand look at some of the latest research taking place at UCSD. A lab director will give an overview of the research and introduce students to the kinds of questions scientists and engineers are working to solve. We will also tour the labs and learn more about the equipment, projects, and people behind the research.

After the lab visit, we will explore the UCSD campus through a fun scavenger hunt featuring some of the university’s well-known public sculptures and landmarks.

This field trip is a chance for students to experience a university environment, see real scientific research up close, and imagine the many possibilities that STEM can offer in the future.
